I understand it is important to know how much everything is going to cost when you planning a budget. I aim to be open and transparent with my costs.
All my services include consultation, creating a bespoke ceremony, update calls/meetings and presentation of your ceremony at your chosen venue. Some printing is included, some may incur additional cost which will be discussed with you. If you require any rituals within your ceremony, any required components may incur additional cost if you ask me to provide them, you are of course free to provide your own components if you choose. I will provide some components free of charge for certain ceremonies. Depending where your venue is, there may be some travel charge which will be discussed at the initial contact or consultation.
Don’t worry, I always do my best to keep costs down and will provide a full breakdown at or shortly after, our initial consultation.
Currently, the government has not yet given legal powers of marriage to civil celebrants, however, progress is being made in England and Wales. Once these changes have been made in England and Wales, it is assumed it will follow in Scotland. There is a huge movement to support these changes, so we just need to wait. But what does this mean for you right now? All this means is the ‘legal bit’ is done separately to your ceremony and just means contacting your local registry office to arrange a ‘statutory signing’, also known as a ‘two plus two’. The cost will vary depending on your registrar office but ranges from £45-£55pp. Just arrange a date and time that suits you and take two witnesses along. You can do this before or after your wedding ceremony and I do not need to see your marriage license.
Unlike other officiants, we are only governed on content by you. You are free to choose where, when and how your ceremony is held. You may choose to have your ceremony at home, on a hill, by an old castle ruin, or in a beautiful hotel. You can include family and friends, poems, music, or a ritual to make it a truly personal celebration to you.
If you wish to include any content with a religious aspect, you can!
Absolutely! Whether you want a unity ritual, a new start ritual or something that reflects the life of a loved one who has passed, I am here to help and I love coming up with new ways to make the occasion as unique as the person or persons being celebrated.
Yes, it is possible and is something more and more people are choosing to do. You can hold a funeral anywhere that is meaningful to your loved one, provided it is legal and you have permission by the owner of the place you want the service to be held. There are no legal requirements to hold a funeral somewhere other than traditional establishments such as churches and crematoriums. Speak to your funeral director about your preferences, usually they are happy to accommodate.
I am based in Cumbria near Carlisle. Of course you want to have your ceremony somewhere meaningful to you. I am happy to travel and will agree to any required travel with you at initial contact or consultation.
No where is out of reach!
Of course! I'm always happy to answer any questions or queries you may have in regards to the celebrant process or ideas you might have for your day.
As a celebrant, we are there to help you celebrate life’s key milestones and events. Always at the centre of these moments, is love and affection. Sorrel is a beautiful, wild plant and in the Victorian language of flowers, means affection. By happy coincidence, I used to have a cat called Happythyme Sorrel and this is also a little nod to her and the joy she brought into my life for many years.
As a civil celebrant, we are not restricted on the content of your ceremony. If you would like to include something in your ceremony which reflects your heritage or faith, that is not a problem.
